Diane's Poems

Glory Land Bound

Five Years Now

Sept 11, 2006

Yes, I have written other Poems about 9/11/2001

As it Occurred

It is very easy for me to remember

As many people were effected and also heard

I can remember that day because my Mother and Father

Were on the road traveling from Tennessee to Florida

On the road as this tragedy was unfolding

They were driving down the highways and listening to the radio

Many other travelers that day were only hearing it that way

Oh, No, I was so worried about them driving the rest of the day

My Father was coming to visit and watch Florida

And Tennessee play Football that week

As , we all know all activities were cancelled and we all mourned

And watched with dismay

So, many people up in dust in such a small about of time

It was a shock to all of our minds

I was setting at my morning breakfast watching the morning news

As the first plane hit

Oh, No, I really did admit

“Could this be true”?

I saw the second plane come around and though could it be?

Of course it was and we did all see

That week in my house we were in prayer and mourning with others

I was grateful I was with my Father and Mother

My Mother and I watched Gospel Tapes all week

We listened to some of the concerts she had brought me from Tennessee

We both love the Southern Gospel Music

Today, I cried several times

As I lost my Mother last year and I know how I loved her so

I remember that day and the week we spend with one another

Before she had to go back home to Tennessee

So, today I cried for all the families of the lost in that tragic day

I will always remember 9/11/2001 and the empty feeling I felt

Until we started listening to our Gospel Music

Being for a Military Family as I am

We Pray for our Troops every day

I was not for the war

But, I support our Troops

I still fly my American Flag, My MIA Flag

My Husband retired Army and now 100% V/A Disabled from Vietnam

My Father was blown off a ship in WWII and a proud Man Is he

Many Men did not survive the USS Huston as did he

Now, a tourist attraction in Huston, Texas for other’s to see

So, No Freedom is not free

9/11 , five years now

I pray we all support our Troops

May God Bless the Troops, Blessings to all the Victims of that Day,

And God Bless The USA
